Hi, it seems like you live quite the interesting life. What's your favorite kind of adventure to get lost in?
Because, I don't know about you, but for me if it involved a hole-in-the wall theater late at night I would be instantly sold on it.
Hole in the wall theatre, questionable food decisions, secret bars, getting lost in the strand. Walking through central park i the snow was really refreshing today - the snow muffles all the sound and it was *so* quiet and pretty.
You're right, the snow was fun. As I was walking home, there was a woman cross country skiing out of tompkins square park and down the sidewalk, through the inch and a half of snow. I think she made the right decision. It's possible she enjoyed the snow more than anybody else in Manhattan today.
I love cross country skiing but couldn't justify how much room they'd take up vs how often I'd get to use them... during that blizzard, the skis were definitely the way to go and I wish I had mine here. :) How was your weekend? Any adventures?
Sadly, uneventful. My weekend plan was to make a gingerbread house (most of my adventures happen in a kitchen) but my baking partner fell ill and had to postpone. So I guess my weekend adventure consisted of cookies and hot chocolate.
Still have the gingerbread house (haunted, obviously) to look forward to in the near future, though.
What about you? Did you brave the 0-degree weather for anything exciting?
seems like lots of people have been getting sick over the past week or so. Cookies and hot chocolate sound *amazing* - did you make them?
I did. Lots! Friday was a work party and then I went out with a couple friends on the LES. Saturday I went to ikea. Sunday I took my roomie out for a valentines day "date" - dinner/movie/drinks. Today I went to the museum of natural history for the whole day before heading into the park.
i rather enjoy the cold. :)
I did bake them! Not this past weekend though, they happen to be leftovers. For some reason I enjoy baking more than I enjoy eating what I bake, so I always have a suplus of *whatever* around me.
I get that. I like to cook and derive a lot more pleasure out of making food for others than eating it myself. whenever my roommates are home, I'm usually cooking for everyone.
Baking requires a lot of precision that I haven't perfected... in the kitchen or other parts of my life.
Sounds like a lovely weekend (actually today too) that you had. I go out with friends enough, but now that I think about it, I haven't given museums the attention they deserve.
Got a favorite? I've actually been meaning to check out the math museum-- I forget its proper name --that's downtown.
I go to the natural history museum more often than I should admit on a dating site. ;) I also hang around a lot of the other museums as well. It is the perfect place to be "out" but not necessarily social, which is exactly what I need sometimes.
I haven't been to the math museum but I heard it was decent to see once but not really worth going again as the exhibits don't change much.
Oh, that's a shame, but I can see that in a museum about math.
Hmm, I've been to lots of natural history museums (Boston, New Haven, DC, Albuquerque) but not New York. I wonder how I let that one slide.
We should probably remedy that. I'm a member so no lines! Well I have to head to bed. zzz...
good night, responsible person
I'm [ name ], by the way. Have a nice night!
I'm Jess, and nice to internet-meet you.
Hey! How was your week? Did the rest of it live up to your day spent in museums and the snow?
It was! I spent three days camping... just getting back to the city now...
how was your weekend?
Sounds like a great three days. Where did you go?
I went hiking in Tuxedo today. I just got back around 7 too. You definitely picked the best weekend this winter be outdoors.
I was camping in Taconic with some friends. It was really fun. How was your hike?
The hike was great! Seeing as it was my first hike in about 4 months, we (a friend and I) took the wimpier of two trails, but it still ended up leading to a beautiful frozen lake. Plus the day before, I finally got to make my gingerbread house. That was actually more exhausting than the hike. This has been my most "productive" weekend in a long time. :)
This is probably one of the most beautiful things I've read in a profile: you want to be friends who mean a lot to each other who, if/when it comes time to part, leave each other better than they found each other.
Forgive me, I believe we've chatted before... I just wanted to say how lovely it was to read that. :)
Aw, why thank you. :) Yeah, it took me a while to find a way to verbalize that.
Hey, if you don't mind my asking, was there any reason why we stopped talking? I unexpectedly found your profile again, but felt weird restarting a stalled conversation after so long. You still seem like a cool person to get to know.
If you just weren't really feeling it, that's fine too of course.
No reason that I remember. Probably it was me being horrible at keeping up with texts through this app. My apologies because you seem really cool as well and... yea... try again? :)
Eep - realizing that was poorly composed. by "try again?" i mean "let me try again?" not "You should try again."
Yeah, I'm also pretty bad at texting through this site. Care to meet and talk over a coffee? (Or drink?)
Yea! Definitely.
Alright, cool! Got a favorite bar? I have a favorite in the East Village, but I'd be up for something new and unfamiliar as well.
Let's go to your favorite spot.
...are we doing this now?
Oh, I wasn't planning on right now. I actually have plans with a friend.
But maybe later this week? Thursday perhaps? The bar I like is Summit, Avenue C and 8th in Manhattan.
I just returned from a vacation and am in "catch up mode" with all my friends, hence the business.
Ah, cool! Next Thursday I'm seeing a show. Wednesday I'll be in the east village having coffee with a friend until like 8:30 so if 9ish works for you Wednesday. Otherwise... next Monday or Tuesday after 5:30...
So this Wednesday I have a date with a friend to make colored-pencil drawings together, so I think next Monday is the best I can do.
Enjoy the show, too.
Next Monday it is! It is in my calendar. :) what is your name? I'm [ name ]
P.s. colored pencil drawing date sounds amazing.
P.p.s. the show is kesha. I can't decide if I'm going ironically or if I'm actually stoked. Probably stoked. Haha.
I'm Jess. I'll mark next Monday down. And yeah, I'm excited for coloring too. :)
Hey Jess! (My phone corrected your name to Jesus. Haha) Just wanted to check in about tomorrow and make sure we are still on. :) my number is [redacted].
Yup, still on! Does ~6pm sound good to you?
I'm [redacted]
Yep! Summit, Ave C, 6pm! I'll be there.
Great, see ya then. :)
Awesomeeee! I'm stoked.
Hey Jess! Stoked for tonight. I may try to find a spot to watch the debate at nine... I dunno if that's cool for a first date and I'm not married to the idea of going but it'll likely be an blend of fun/depressing.
Hm, well there's a beer store/bar very close by that showed the dem debates earlier this season. Maybe they'll show tonight's as well? A B C Beer Co I believe it was.
Ok cool. I tried to look up spots yesterday. (UCB east and Apollo theatre both have cool looking events but tickets sold out.) But I'm guessing lots of places with TV's will be showing it. P.s. I forgot you gave me your number. Switching to text!
Hello! My phone finally died, and until my replacement comes this is the only way I know to contact you (if you use google hangouts I'm [redacted]). Just wondering if there's anything I should bring for baking on Tuesday. And also tell me how your event went!
